Covid secure working environment

The challenge

Anglian Water needed a Covid-secure workspace to support essential upgrade works at their water treatment site in Allington, Nottinghamshire. A layout was required that allowed staff to move safely through the building with minimal contact, ensuring social distancing could be maintained without disrupting critical site operations.

The solution

Maxi Space designed a modular building using its flexible panel system, allowing walls to be added or removed easily to create an efficient one-way circulation route throughout the building. This delivered a cost-effective solution that met all Covid safety requirements while supporting safe, uninterrupted workflow.

The building included:

• A large open-plan canteen, providing space for socially distanced breaks
• A first-floor open-plan office area with generous space for safely spaced workstations
• A standalone two-bay drying room, designed to manage foot traffic efficiently with perimeter bench seating and a simple one-way corridor
• Single-occupancy toilet cubicles specified by the client, offering privacy while supporting distancing protocols

The workspace was built from Maxi Space’s standard hire-fleet specification, featuring a 2.5m internal ceiling height for a spacious feel and upgraded insulation for improved U values, reducing energy costs and enhancing environmental performance.

Delivery & Install

Using our own fleet of Hiav vehicles, the full setup was delivered and landed in a single day, including positioning all units and erecting staircases. Installation took two working days, with the building handed over on time and within budget.

Due to the time-sensitive nature of our clients’ work, delivering this project on time was critical. We used our tried and tested planning and delivery process to plan the job, and Maxi Space’s dedication ensured the project was delivered comfortably before the deadline.
