Our social values

Every modular building we design and install has an impact that reaches beyond the site boundary. As an approved supplier on the LHC and Kent Commercial Services frameworks (link to frameworks), we work with public sector clients across various sectors (link to sectors). That’s the thinking behind the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, which requires public authorities to consider how a proposed purchase might improve the economic, social, and environmental well-being of the area it serves before making a purchase. At Maxi Space, we focus on the responsibility across four areas: the planet, our communities, the people we employ, and the local economies we work in.

Planet

Construction is one of the most resource-intensive industries in the world, and a significant contributor to carbon emissions and waste wherever it happens. Because our buildings are manufactured off-site in a controlled factory environment rather than built on-site, the process itself produces far less waste than traditional construction. Materials are cut to precise specifications under one roof, offcuts and surplus are easier to sort and reuse, and less is lost to the weather, damage or error that a live building site brings. Compared with traditional methods, our modular solutions can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 30%.

The sustainability benefits extend beyond the manufacturing stage. Shorter installation programmes, fewer vehicle movements and reduced on-site activity all help lower the environmental impact of the completed project. Our approach is guided by a Net Zero Roadmap that influences how we design buildings, source materials and incorporate low and zero carbon technologies. This is supported by the compliance measures, accreditations and environmental commitments set out within our ESG framework.

Work

Our people are at the centre of every project we deliver. Through our Future Leader scheme and wider operational training programmes, we help people develop the skills needed to build successful careers in the construction sector. By creating pathways into the industry and supporting ongoing development, we enable individuals to grow their careers regardless of their background or previous experience.

We also recognise the role we play in supporting local economies. Wherever possible, we recruit locally and work with SMEs throughout our supply chain, helping to create employment opportunities, strengthen regional businesses and keep investment within the communities we serve. In doing so, we generate social value that extends far beyond the completion of a project.

Community

As part of the Davro Group, Maxi Space is committed to the same values that underpin the wider group. Most recently, Davro Group supported Farleigh Hospice’s Christmas Tree Recycling campaign, providing a collection van that helped clear more than 3,500 trees and contributed to over £73,000 raised for people living with life-limiting illnesses in mid-Essex. We then went on to sponsor Farleigh Hospice’s Santa Fun Run in Chelmsford’s Central Park.

The group has also supported charitable causes through a £3,500 donation to Challenging MND, contributing to a wider total of £42,746.54 raised through the charity’s first MOVE for MND campaign and the Big Give Christmas Challenge. Elsewhere, the group marks Armed Forces Week each year, coming together as a company to recognise the serving personnel, reservists, veterans and cadets who support our communities.

These initiatives reflect our belief that social value extends beyond the projects we deliver. By supporting local charities, recognising community contributions and encouraging employee involvement in meaningful causes, we aim to make a positive difference in the places where we live and work, building stronger connections with the communities around us.

Economy

Public sector organisations increasingly need a faster, compliant way to secure the buildings they need. Through established procurement frameworks, we help projects move forward quickly while giving customers confidence that the correct processes have been followed.

We also recognise the importance of supporting the wider economy. By working with local suppliers and SMEs wherever possible, we help create opportunities for businesses within our supply chain and keep investment within the communities we serve.

Our off-site construction approach adds to those benefits. Faster project delivery means less disruption on site and allows buildings to become operational sooner, helping organisations maximise the value of their investment while supporting jobs, businesses and economic activity throughout the project lifecycle.
