Eco-friendly public toilet in London.

The challenge
Maxi Space was commissioned to design, supply, and install a modular building in Union Square, Canary Wharf. The primary purpose of the structure is to provide accessible public restroom facilities, alongside a secure storage area for equipment and materials used for events and general maintenance within the space. The project forms part of a broader initiative to enhance public amenities in this high-footfall urban area, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic integration with the surrounding environment.
The solution
The modular building consists of two units built to Maxi Space’s Plusline specification, including:
1 x Plusline Storage Unit, designed for secure storage of site and event equipment
To meet both functional and aesthetic requirements, the units were customised with timber
cladding and a green roof system, helping the structure blend into the landscaped surroundings of
Union Square while also supporting sustainable urban design.
- 1 x Toilet Block Unit, featuring:
- 1 x DOA-compliant accessible toilet
- 2 x Single unisex W.C.s
Delivery & install
The entire project was delivered, from initial idea to installation and fit out, in 10 weeks.
Testimonials
“Maxi Space were excellent; they delivered exactly what we asked for. We had a very short time span for this project due to the circumstances we found ourselves in. Maxi Space supported us at every level, fast-tracking the design process, initiating manufacturing during the planning process and working through the night at times to ensure that the building was completed in time.”
